There is a group of about 50 gung-ho paddlers that get together every year to join in a bizarre event called the Hulapache Paddle. This occasion called for an official mascot, a graphic for rashguards and stickers. The participants also received a flag to fly proudly on their personal flotation device (aka. kayak, canoe, SUP, log raft).

The voyage is a 2 day / 20 mile trek on Lake Austin, almost traveling the entire lake – dam to dam. The paddlers drop their boats in at the famous Hula Hut restaurant boat launch. On day one, they travel 10-long-miles up to Emma Long (City Park), where they get a much needed break and set up camp for the night. Only about half of the participants make it through to the 2nd day of paddling, which takes them on another grueling 10-miler. Finishing up the weekend excursion at the Apache Shores boat dock near Mansfield Dam. Usually arriving a little less enthusiastic compared to when they started, but still in good spirits. Also very sore. And tired. And hungover.
